Edward Parnell

Edward Parnell worked in a number of creative media roles, as well as in international wildlife conservation, before enrolling on the prose MA in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia in 2006. A year later he won a place on the New Writing Partnership's Escalator scheme.
Edward has recently completed his first book, a dark multi-narrator novel that unravels the family secrets of a small Norfolk village during the early days of World War II. The Listeners focuses on thirteen-year-old William Abrehart who, a year on, is still haunted by the death of his father.
In 2009, Edward received a Winston Churchill Fellowship which enabled him to visit Australia, spending two very rewarding months travelling around the continent during the middle of the austral winter. He is currently writing a narrative travel book about the outback and its enigmatic natural history based on his experiences.
