Each year writers in need of support at critical stages in their careers benefit from Writers' Centre Norwich's Escalator Literature scheme which develops new talent in the Eastern region. Absolute Fiction is born from the winners of the 2007 award.
“In 2007 we thought we’d open up the list to authors with track records who wanted to step out of their comfort zones and make a change in their writing careers. The ten winners range from brilliant journalists and playwrights, to genre writers and poets champing at the bit to break into literary fiction. With the help of Arts Council England, East, the region’s writers look set to make a big impact over the coming years.”
Chris Gribble, Chief Executive of Writers' Centre Norwich
We are a varied group, writing in a wide range of styles of genres. From dystopic visions of a drowned British coastline, to an exploration of the relationship between Virginia Woolf and her sister Vanessa Bell, the members of Absolute Fiction are currently working on crime novels, literary fiction, a thriller, short stories, and plays.
